Plastic Materials We Extrude
The right material is the foundation of the right extrusion. As one of the largest manufacturers on the West Coast, our purchasing power and long supplier relationships help keep pricing competitive and lead times steady. Additionally, our experienced engineers will recommend the best material and durometer for your environment, compliance needs, and budget.
Common materials we run:
- Rigid & Flexible PVC: Cost‑effective, stable, and versatile for trims, carriers, and seals
- TPEs and Elastomers: TPV (e.g., Santoprene) and specialty TPEs such as Monprene and Kraton for flexible seals with good compression set
- Polyolefins: PE family (LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE, HDPE) and PP for lightweight, chemical‑resistant profiles and living hinges
- Engineering thermoplastics: ABS, PC, and PS, where higher impact, stiffness, or clarity is required
Additional Options
We can also create custom compounds when you need something unique and creative. We can create materials that will give off a modest glow and extruded parts that have a strong resistance to UV, excellent for outdoor usage. All parts can be cut to any size you want, and hot-melt tape (pressure-sensitive adhesive) can be applied if your extruded part needs to adhere to another fixture.
Plastic Extrusion Profiles
Our capabilities range from complex, custom-made parts and profiles to more common shapes. We make our dies in-house, so we have the flexibility to create brand-new parts when you are ready to order. Everything we manufacture is done at the time you place your purchase order (PO) to ensure each job is held to the highest quality, ensuring your custom extruded part will function exactly as it should.
Plastic Extrusion Profiles
At Vip Rubber & Plastic, our custom extrusion abilities mean we can create plastic parts to whatever profile your application needs.
- Bulb Seals: Round, half-round, push-in with and without fins
- Seals: Push-in back side seals, vinyl glazing seals, top load seals, bottom drip seals, angled T seals
- Channels: Flexible and non-flexible U-channels, deep glazing channels, H, J, and L channels

FAQs
What information do I need to request a quote?
Below is suggested information to include in your quote for the most accurate feedback from our team:
- Drawing or sketch of the part (CAD if available)
- Target dimensions and tolerances
- Materials of interest
- Color (Pantone/RAL)
- Operating environment (UV, chemicals, temperature)
- Compliance needs
- Estimated quantities
- Cut length
- Timeline
Do you design and build extrusion dies in‑house? How is tooling handled?
Yes. We design and manufacture dies in‑house for faster turnaround and tighter process control. Tooling is quoted up front and we maintain and service it for production life. Ownership and maintenance terms are clearly stated in your quotation and purchase order.
Which materials can you extrude, and do you offer special formulations?
We run a wide range of plastics, including rigid and flexible PVC, TPV (Santoprene), ABS, polypropylene, and more. Options include UV‑stable, flame‑retardant, antimicrobial, and custom color compounds. We can also develop custom blends for unique performance targets.
Can you produce co‑extrusions or add adhesive backing and other secondary operations?
Yes. We offer co‑extrusion and tri‑extrusion (for example, a rigid base with a flexible sealing lip) and can apply pressure‑sensitive or hot‑melt adhesive in‑line. Secondary operations include cut‑to‑length, punching/notching, drilling, mitering, embossing/printing, splicing, welding, and tailored packaging.
What are typical lead times, minimums, and tolerances?
Lead time depends on complexity and capacity. After die approval, production runs are typically scheduled within a few weeks; expedited options may be available. Minimums vary by profile, material, and setup. Tell us your target quantities, and we’ll advise the most economical approach. Tolerances are application‑driven; we’ll recommend achievable, industry‑appropriate tolerances during DFM review and confirm them on your print before production.
